Because we value these things, we have spent a good deal of time and effort on considering our construction philosophy. There are three (3) major areas which we consider when we think about construction philosophy: the building system, our relationships, and craftsmanship/quality product.

The Building As A System

The building as a system concept is a relatively new development in building science. It resulted directly from the introduction of a systems approach to building science practice, starting in the 1960s. As innovation increasingly became the means to inspiring new forms of architectural expression in the 20th century, the review of building failures showed that traditional approaches to design were inadequate. This was due to inappropriate adaptations of successful past ways of doing things.

The building as a system approach requires designers to explicitly and consciously consider the interactions between the primary elements which make up the system:

• Building enclosure (building envelope system);
• Inhabitants (humans, animals, and/or plants, etc.);
• Building services (electrical/mechanical systems);
• Site, with its landscape and services infrastructure; and
• External environment (weather and micro-climate).

Consideration of these elements as a complete system and not as isolated elements is the key to well-performing buildings. Hibriten Construction appreciates the concept of building as a system. Relationships

When you ask developers what the biggest hurdles in construction are in working with a general contractor, you’ll hear the same answers over and over again:

• The quality of character in subcontractors, project managers, and site supervisors
• Communication
• Working with a company that’s the right size

We pay our subcontractors on time as soon as their work is deemed to be complete. This insures they want to continue working with us in the future and also that they will do a professional job for you.

As a customer, you are in direct communication with both the project manager as well as the general contractor on a regular basis. We are able to work in tandem with you, your architect, and/or designer(s). We provide a comprehensive estimate or budget for the project, a fair and equitable contract, transparent billing processes, and a change order process that is fair to all concerned.

Being a smaller firm allows for a more direct flow of information between you and your contractor. As a customer, you are in direct communication with both the project manager as well as the general contractor on a regular basis. Our entire team will work in tandem with you, your architect, or designer(s) under the supervision of the project manager.

Craftsmanship

In working with more than 120 clients varying in size and scope from a bathroom remodel to a subdivision developer to a local datacenter, we have developed a construction philosophy. In practice, we deliver a high quality product by utilizing highly experienced subcontractors, site supervisors, and project managers who feel that their work is appreciated. We accomplish this by using the varied skills of our project managers and site supervisors in all steps of the construction process, paying our subcontractors fair prices for their work, being thankful and respectful of their craft, and always keeping safety our first priority. This has allowed us to tackle difficult projects many other contractors shy away from, keep our workforce happy and healthy, and deliver a superior finished product on time and within scope and budget.
